Today after our morning session in Macon with the Emmanuel children (I, the reired engineer, am the reading teacher and loving it) we went to vist two of Larry Miller's friends.
Booker T is a widower about 80 with significant health problems. He worked in St. Louis at McDonald Douglas until they were sold to Boeing. Now he lives alone here with most of his family still in St. Louis. We visited him last year and he was very excited to see us again. We visited with him and the ladies, Clarena, Sarah, Addyson, Naomi sang for him with Clarena playing the guitar. He really loved the old gospel songs that they sang.
I am sure we made Booker T's day, but what an encouragement he was to us to see an older man with many problems in his life staying faithful to his Lord and waiting for the roll to be called up in heaven.
Then we went to visit Doby. Doby, also a widower, but in his 70's. Doby was so excited to have us visit him that he could hardly talk. When he calmed down, we sat under his persimmon tree and visited with him. He is also a fine Christian man who loves his Lord despite the difficulities in his life. He does have a daughter that calls him every day so he is not as lonely as Booker T.
The ladies also sang for him which he was just overjoyed to hear.
Both men praised God for Christian parents that taught them about God when they were just little kids.
We came to Mississippi mainly to minister to children, but our God cares about our senior citizens and so should we.
Now off to the Choctaws.
Thanks George – good to hear 🙂
